Hải Phòng Launches Night Cultural Tour "Sacred Hang Kenh"

Hải Phòng is set to illuminate its rich heritage in a new, immersive evening experience: “Dấu thiêng Hàng Kênh” (meaning “Sacred Hàng Kênh”). The city’s first officially organized night tour will open to the public on June 28, 2025, inviting both locals and visitors to rediscover the spiritual and architectural wonders of the historic Hàng Kênh communal house.

Unveiling the Program

• Pre-launch event: On the evening of June 22, a review meeting took place at the Hàng Kênh communal house (47 Nguyễn Công Trứ, Lê Chân District), chaired by Trần Thị Hoàng Mai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, along with members of the city’s Artistic Council and representatives from other relevant departments.

• Collaborating partners: The Department of Culture and Sports of Hải Phòng unites efforts with the Hải Phòng Museum & Library and L'Héritage Group to orchestrate this innovative night tour 

Historic Venue & Cultural Significance

• 300-year-old national monument: The Hàng Kênh communal house is a nationally recognized architectural heritage site built over three centuries ago. It venerates Ngô Quyền, the “Patriarch of the National Revival,” who liberated Vietnam from Chinese domination and ushered in an era of independence.

• UNESCO-recognized intangible heritage: Visitors will have the chance to experience traditional “hát cửa đình”—ritual singing performed at the gate of communal houses—a heritage recognized by UNESCO.

Tour Details & Schedule

• Dates & times: The night tour kicks off officially on June 28, 2025, and will recur every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

• Operating hours: Tours run from 18:30 to 21:00, welcoming guests for a compact, enriching walk through history and ritual.

Ticket Prices

• Adults: 300,000 VND per person

• Children (1m–1.3m tall): 150,000 VND per child

• Children under 1m: Free of charge

What to Expect

1. Atmospheric exploration: Under evening lantern light, guests will explore the serene architecture and sacred spaces of the ancient communal house.

2. Cultural performances: Live demonstrations of traditional singing ("hát cửa đình") and possibly other local arts and rituals.

3. Guided storytelling: Insightful narration on the life of Ngô Quyền, the significance of the site, and the rituals performed at communal houses.
